A long weekend provided by 'labour day', the new zealand equivalent of may day. We headed down on Friday afternoon along with all the other weekenders to spend a relaxing weekend by the beach.
Every time we go to Pauanui i just sleep like a baby for at least 12 hours. As soon as we got past Thames and headed into the bush of the Coromandel, i wound my window down and stuck my head out like a dog for 10 minutes. The smell is something really refreshing and alive, it really breaks the cobwebs in your head.
On top of that, there's Annabel's mum's home cooking to be reckoned with. A 'hearty' Lasagne followed by chocolate cake and collapse in the sofa, lovely.
On Sunday, Annabel was off to a pre-wedding session with a client, so i had a walk round Thames, looking in the bookshops and investigating stationery. I opted to get one of those printer refills you do yourself which turned out to be a complete disaster. I'm not saying they don't work, but they didn't for me and i've still got the bloody ink on my hands from trying.
Barbie on Sunday night followed by a long moonlit beach walk. I love the mist that beats up off a night sea, especially when you get the moon out cutting a driveway of light down the middle towards the horizon.
On Monday, we got back early and i got a chance to enjoy Man Utd beating Arsenal. Miss the vibe of a Satuday afternoon i have to say, but i guess i'll cope;)
